A championship
for one island

Good waves deserve good competition. Mo Surf Championship brings Mauritius’ surfing community together to push local talent further, give the next generation something to aim for, and look after the ocean that makes the whole thing possible.

Who we are

Born on a beach, not in an office.

Serious about surfing. Saltwater at heart.

Different day jobs. Same obsession with waves. Mo Surf Championship launched in January 2023, bringing together people who wanted to take competitive surfing in Mauritius further. The idea was simple: give local talent a platform to compete, improve and work towards representing the island beyond its shores.

We started with two competitions at Îlot Sancho. In 2024, the action took us to Sancho and One Eye at Le Morne. Three more competitions followed at Sancho in 2025, with young contenders, seasoned surfers and families bringing plenty of life to the shoreline. Beach clean-ups were part of the programme too. Looking after the place comes with surfing it.

Now we’re putting that same energy into a bigger ambition: developing surfing, supporting young people, protecting our coastline and building ocean safety skills. Our 2026–2030 strategy brings those four priorities together. There are more heats ahead, more talent to nurture and plenty of work to do between swells.
